Using a special VPN and reverse proxy setup, this server is autonomous! This means that it can move around and be with the people it is caring for (aka serving). We did this as cloud infrastructures and servers are often dislocated from the people they serve, and we wanted to bring them in touch with the disabled community in a relaxing and engaging way. People when visiting the cozy server relaxation space can take time to feel out servers and their politics if they want to, or can just relax and decompress with the cozy cloud cushions and stickers.

This autonomous server infrastructure has a legacy within experimental publishing and feminist/activist servers like hub.XPUB, Host Your Own, ATNOFS and Servpub x wiki4print. These histories and their resources show a number of approaches to why and how to use this VPN setup to transform our relationship to the cloud and each other. Through this itteration we orient to the sorts of configurations & constellations that can affirm lives within digital network infrastructures through a radical crip promise of access.

Working with this VPN configuration enables the cozy-cloud server to move! This means we can be with the materiality that forms this community infrastructure to experience it in through embodied relations. It means that when we install the cozy cloud as a cozy relaxation space for disabled x neurodiverse x chronically ill people where we are able to be with this cloud x server affectively. In this calming space we can (if we want to) start to imagine what cloud services might do, be like and how we may be able to transform what they can be through coziness (instead of overworked and extractive).
